Wednesday, 23 May Plymouth to Twyford by train and bike

I was up just before 7 am. I showered and went for a cooked breakfast. I slipped up over the hour difference, thinking that we docked at 10 am, but of course it was 9 am. It did not take long to pack and clear my cabin. I found the stairs down to our parking place. Anthony and Guillaume were already there. We had quite a wait to get ashore as the main car deck had to be cleared first.

I rode up to the station and bought my ticket (£42) and moved over to platform 7. The train arrived just before 10:25 and there was room for my bike, although I had not made a reservation. There were no sandwiches on the train. I am definitely back in the UK! Both toilets are blocked in adjoining coaches, although I did get water, soap and a clean towel! I ate my last two snack bars in place of a sandwich. Later the bar staff brought round free cans of Pepsi Cola - contains caffeine - no good to me! I took it home for Alasdair.

We arrived in Reading a bit late. I cycled out to Twyford and arrived about 3 pm. Jenny was busy planting her hanging baskets. I unpacked my things, then I took Jenny to “La Fontana” for a nice meal. She deserved a treat having “held the fort” for six weeks and also helped “rescue” me!
